Ecofriendly School Day!
Environment and environmental issues are on the agenda and schools cannot remain indifferent to these issues. As such, Loureiro School accepted the challenge of being a reference school in environmental issues, embracing projects that truly promote sustainability: Eco-Schools; Erasmus All Aboard.
Eco-Day then appears as a showcase of activities linked to protecting the environment and changing behaviors, with precise objectives in mind: combating climate change and promoting sustainability, for the future of the planet.
Actions and projects include: recycling brigade that checks the waste produced at school, carries out surveys on waste separation habits in the community and monitors the recycling process in school containers; sustainable energy consumers, that is, teams that monitor energy efficiency and implement more sustainable energy production methodologies (solar-powered cars; solar oven for cooking, making soap out of cooking oil); food waste brigades that monitor the school canteen and carry out actions within the community to raise awareness of food waste; organic producers who take care of the school garden, make compost and promote the benefits of vertical gardens.
In an overall assessment, it is noted that students feel the responsibility for change and reflect this change in behavior within the local community.
